I was born in Albemarle, North Carolina, located in Stanly County, and received my primary education at Central Elementary School and New London High School. I graduated from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and served in various engineering capacities with R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for more than 31 years before retiring in 1994.

Some of my hobbies include: woodcarving, woodworking and scroll sawing, pen and pencil artwork, water coloring, riding trails on my John Deere Gator, and writing. I became a “writer”, I suppose, a few years ago when I wrote my first mystery book—a story about detective Mike Sparrow entitled Secret of The Old Barn. It was a classic murder mystery written in a youthful style like Carolyn Keene who had written many Nancy Drew mysteries. The book itself has never been published but it is once again in the works and hopefully will be published soon.

I am also writing another mystery book entitled Crooked Mile. The story involves the famous detective Mike Sparrow as he tries to solve the mystery at the old castle. Hopefully this one will be completed by year’s end.

The rabbit is such a lovable animal and character that I chose to feature it in my recent book— How The Little Rabbit Learned to Hop. In trying to develop the text for the story, I soon realized that professional drawings filled with color, would be the key for its success. The unique expressions on the faces of Rosy and all the animals almost tells the story without the text. I am sure you will find it to be a great book for your children.
